NEW YORK (VINnews/Sandy Eller) – In a departure from his usual repertoire, singer Yaakov Shwekey appears in an all new music video expressing the Jewish community’s gratitude to President Donald Trump and the United States of America.

The three minute long video features the Stars and Stripes billowing against a brilliant blue sky and the popular singer recording the song against the backdrop of a large American flag at a Spotswood, New Jersey music studio.
The song, We Love America, is an updated version of Shwekey’s 2016 hit We Are A Miracle, written for an August 9th fundraiser held for Trump in Deal, New Jersey at the home of Stanley Chera, who succumbed to COVID in mid-April. Chera was a close friend of both Trump and Shwekey, and his children contacted the singer, asking him to perform for the president at the fundraiser.
“I started asking myself, ‘What can I sing for him, what will have an impact?’” Shwekey told VIN News. “It made sense to do a patriotic song in honor of the president’s visit and I came up with a few lyrics and contacted my dear friend Yisroel Besser who has written songs for me in the past.”
The song highlights the Jewish community’s gratitude to America for its many freedoms and also expresses support for Trump, describing him as “heaven sent.” Shwekey was told that the president enjoyed the song, which was also performed for an enthusiastic audience at Camp Tumim in Pennsylvania as previously reported on VIN News (https://bit.ly/2Q0EZWB.)
But far from creating the song for the fundraiser alone, Shwekey hopes that it will resonate far and wide, especially with the election less than three months away. The singer, whose mother was born in a displaced persons camp, has taken great pains to ensure that his own children appreciate the freedoms they currently enjoy.
“I took my children to visit Rav Shmuel Kamenetzky who has an American flag flying outside his home,” said Shwekey. “It is very important for our children to understand the great and kind country that we live in, that lets us practice our religion and gives us voice.”
Seeing the media trying to publicly discredit Trump and people publicly displaying contempt for America is particularly disturbing to Shwekey.
“We know what America has done for people – the downtrodden, the hungry,” said Shwekey. “We need to focus on the positive and appreciate what we have. You will never have a country that is perfect, but to not give respect is shocking and I don’t know of any other country that would allow people to kneel during the national anthem.”
Shwekey hopes that We Love America and its message will be heard and internalized in Jewish communities throughout the country.
“With all the negativity that we hear people start thinking that maybe America isn’t all they thought it was,” said Shwekey. “Don’t listen to the media spin. Don’t doubt America and all that it has done for us.”

I give him credit he’s got kadurim as many with much lesser statements have been cheremed.
Patriotism? Is this a joke? Most of his audience doesn’t vote, doesn’t celebrate US holidays, doesn’t have a US flag at home and basically hates Americans outside their kollel. Patriotism for a white sup bigot! Hah.
America was founded by people who were very strongly against blind displays of loyalty to one’s country. If you truly love America, you shouldn’t be so sycophantic in your patriotism.

We owe karas hatov to the President who did more than anyone else for frum torah jews. Whether its allowing Bibi to do what he wants, or prison reform or letting Ruabashkin out, sticking up for our shuls and schools when libs shut it down, sticking up for protecting our religious beliefs so our schools are not forced to hire LGBT teachers for. example, funding schools, sticking it to the arabs who want us dead etc.. Thease are all polcies that directly affect us and we have a true ohev yisroel in the WH.

Just curious as how Shwekey knew that the president liked the song. As Shwekey did not end up singing this song at the fundraiser because the schedule was running late and the president as it was ended up leaving the fundraiser later than expected….

In a basic American civics class, you would learn of the three equal parts of government which were separated by the constitution so that there are checks and balances and no one person or branch has too much power.

This is an interesting trend in the Frum velt.
The goal of America has been to integrate (not assimilate) the diverse immigrant cultures into a cohesive unit that sees themselves as “Americans” first and whatever else they are second.
The same thing happened in Europe where for instance Russia wanted the Jews not to just fit into Russia but to become Russian in thought, loyalty and action (which of course includes conversion).
Gov’ts tried 2 methods. 1. Force and coercion which not only didn’t work but caused the opposite reaction. Hence the rise in Chasidim during this era. 2. Leave the Jews alone and on their own they’ll come around. Obviously it’s the second method that’s succesful. Germany giving Jews citizenship and full rights led to the broad switch there from Orthodox to Reform Judaism and/or total assimilation.
Look at Jewish immigration to the U.S. from 1880-1910. Most Jews came from Frum homes in Eastern Europe. With the U.S. using no coercion at all, most Jews left Frum Yiddishkeit. That’s why today 85+% of American Jews are not Frum.
The Democrats stupidly try to use the coercive methods, i.e. forcing secular studies in Cheders, and we saw the reaction. They have the American goal of integrating Frum Jews they just don’t understand how to achieve it.
The Republicans are smarter about it. Trump and especially Kushner understands that using a carrot instead of a stick is the most effective way to integrate the Chareidim.
Frum Yiddishkeit post Holocaust entered a state of suspended animation trying to recover from the trauma. Now that that Tekufah has ended, we will see where things head.
The Chasidish Rebbes and Gedolim of old appreciated, loved, and supported America but always kept it low key. They may have flown a flag on July 4th or the school sang the Anthem at graduation, but they never went further than that by being an overt patriot going to rally’s or wearing an American flag pin on their Bekeshas. (The Amish, 7th Day Adventists, J-Witnesses, etc follow this same Derech)
As an American, this is a wonderful breakthrough because it shows a willingness by Charedim when left alone to integrate and slowly start to become “Americans first and Jews second”

I love American and that is why I am voting for Biden in the upcoming election.
1. Trump’s isolationist stance is not seemingly based on careful consideration of what will ensure world peace, but rather some idea of his how it costs America too much money. Pulling troops out of Germany and other things he has done or said to undermine the post-WWII world order does not make me feel safer.
2. Trump’s mismanagement of COVID-19, I believe, has led to a worse economic outcome for the US. For those who want to say this is not his fault, this is a guy who during a debate with Hillary suggested as a single senator she is responsible for how the country was run.
3. His open corruption of government where he has turned the government to act to satisfy his political whims (e.g. having Barr further investigations he favors and end those he does not) risks the US becoming a tinpot dictatorship, with your rights being at-risk of being discarded easily.
4. He favors policies that he sees helping him win elections then those built on sound principles. For example, his tax reform went completely against the ideas forwarded by conservatives such as being concerned about the deficit. Also, he sought to destroy Obamacare, yet now is suggesting that prior conditions should be covered by insurance, in effect he is suggesting Obamacare (it is not difficult to understand how once you determine prior conditions should be covered, you need to require minimum overages and have a penalty or else you have a broken system).
5. Trump’s lack of business ethics and his personal lack of morality are poor examples for what we want from other American’s. He is not a patriot, rather he is a narcissist who loves being in the spotlight.
6. His support of conspiracy theories is dangerous and fosters an environment where conspiracies that can lead to people or groups being targeted foster.
I am appreciative of his moving the embassy to Jerusalem and his general support of Israel, but for me at least, the long term impact of Trump is not a better America or safer world.
