De Blasio Indicates NYC Indoor Dining Not Likely To Return Until Vaccine

Even as NYC begins to partially reopen, as far as indoor dining is concerned, it’s a no go according to the Mayor.

Reopening indoor dining is something that would require the city to be ready for a “huge step forward,” said de Blasio on Monday.

“We do expect — and pray for and expect — a vaccine in the spring that will allow us to get more back to normal,” the mayor said, “but I will absolutely tell you, we’re going to keep looking for that situation where we can push down the virus enough where we would have more ability to address indoor dining.”

Although some hoped that the date of June 21, 2021 that the city had set earlier this month for the return date for indoor dining would prove to be longer than necessary, the mayor did not seem confident that anything would change before that.

Interestingly enough, de Blasio’s decision comes while the city is experiencing one of its lowest infection rates since March. Indeed, the city has recorded a 0.59 percent COVID-19 infection rate, which de Blasio himself mentioned at the briefing.

Not only that, but New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has just announced that New Jersey indoor dining will resume for the state at 25% capacity this coming Friday.

All this, and despite the fact that NYC remains the sole region in the entire New York State to not allow any form of indoor dining, de Blasio still maintains that the city’s infection rates aren’t low enough for a move forward of this magnitude.

What comes next is yet to be determined, as some federal officials have predicted a possible vaccine by the end of the year.

Awful, but probably the right decision. Most NYC restaurants are so small that they can’t handle more than one or two parties and maintain social distance. And the city is doing what it can to allow outdoor dining wherever possible. The shutdowns really have saved a lot of people from infections and saved a lot of lives.

Get carry-out from your favorite kosher restaurant to help them out. It is mutar to have carry-out on Shabbat!

When Trump questioned the medical advice of Dr. Fuci and others the liberals condemned the president. You even had some lunatic senator this week saying because Trump made a rally he’s killing people. Where does Deblasio come up with this idea you can’t eat inside? Is it based on any medical advice?. Is he doing it on his own? Is he trying to make it harder and harder to find a parking space. Perhaps he’s making a kal vachomer If ha’ochel be’shuk doeme lakelev, and it also says pnei ha’dor kibnei hakelv so its only natural to eat in the street.

Life involves many people and businesses suffering. A safe compromise needs to be made regarding sidewalks. Some establishments have taken over the sidewalk and demand pedestrians walk in the street, this is not legal and not safe.

This dufus DeBozo just wants to single-handedly destroy the city, What does this moron think a restaurant will remain open through the winter with outdoor dining? and besides a vaccine is about 2 years away.

Guys he’s not stupid like we all thought. He’s crazy. He’s doing this on purpose. He’s a socialist. He wants all private businesses to close. That’s socialism. He found an excuse to kill the restaurant industry that’s all.

But think about the thousands of employees that work (were working) in these restaurants. How are they supposed to support their own families? Many of them are entry level workers and want to work. They’re not lazy. We have cold hearted people here commenting, “oh they would rather stay home and collect unemployment”. If DeBlasio kills the restaurant industry, what are all those employee taxpayers supposed to do???

Well, yeah, social distancing is why we continue to have low numbers.
IMO, come up with some criteria for restaurants to open, e.g. only 25-50% of capacity, barriers between tables, etc.
