GIVAT ZEEV (VINnews) — After MK Yitzchak Pindrus’s attempt to establish a national enquiry into police brutality failed in the Knesset Wednesday and a previous attempt failed earlier, police may feel emboldened to continue their crude tactics in attempts to enforce regulations.

In a shocking example of police brutality against Chareidim, a private wedding with just 16 participants all masked was rudely disrupted by policemen in the Givat Zeev neighborhood north of Jerusalem.
The brother of the bride said that the wedding had been delayed for seven months due to coronavirus and took place in a private house with only siblings of the bride and groom present at the scene. A policewoman came into the house and began taking pictures of the wedding, which was being held in accordance with regulations limiting private gatherings to under 20 people. The mother of the bride took the policewoman’s phone away and asked her not to take pictures inside her house. The policewoman responded by bringing in 12 police vans of reinforcements who stormed into the house and demanded to take the mother of the bride for questioning.
The father of the bride begged the police to go away and said he would pay the fine and they could come later for questioning but the police senselessly demanded that the mother leave the wedding. When the brothers of the bride tried to protect her, a policeman took a glass and threw it in the face of one of the brothers, causing him to bleed profusely. The father of the bride had his hand cut by police as he pleaded with them to leave and the Choson and Kallah were left weeping on the floor as police left after wrecking the wedding and injuring family members.
Police responded by claiming that “police arrived at the scene, noticed tens of people in the house and in the courtyard in violation of regulations and asked them to leave. At this point a number of people crowded around the policemen, disturbed them in the call of duty and attacked them. One person was arrested for interrogation and a fine of 5000 NIS was given to the owner of the house.”
