WASHINGTON (VINnews) — Comments that were made last week by Dr. David Nabarro, one of six special envoys to the WHO on COVID-19 should give some guidance to governments around the world that Lockdowns are just not effective.

He told the British magazine The Spectator that lockdowns should be considered as just one measure among many to control the virus, with an aim to give countries “breathing space” to roll out other, better anti-COVID measures.

“We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus,” Nabarro said. He added that lockdowns can only be justified “to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted. But by and large, we’d rather not do it.”

Since declaring the coronavirus a pandemic in March, WHO has said that if countries decide to go into lockdown, it should be considered temporary and they should use the time to implement measures like testing, tracing, informing local populations and promoting physical distancing.

In the early months of the pandemic, Trump pushed for a lifting of lockdown orders as the head of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned that easing restrictions prematurely could “lead to a deadly resurgence.” Trump has been critical of WHO and has ordered a U.S. pullout from the group next July — saying WHO was too accepting of China’s explanations of its handling of the early outbreak.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday issued a threat to Yeshivas in red-zone areas that fail to comply with the state’s shutdown orders. Any school that remains open against orders, will lose all state funding.Cuomo’s warning was issued to New York City, Orange County, Rockland County, the Town of Ramapo, and the village of Spring Valley.

“If schools are operating it’s easy enough to find out,” Cuomo said. “The schools that have been identified as violating the closure order, they will be served today with a notice mandating they close and we are withholding funding from those schools.”

These schools already caught violating the shut-down order will have their funding withheld until the matter is resolved “to our satisfaction,” the governor said.

“I guarantee if a yeshiva gets closed down and they’re not going to get state funding you will see compliance,” Cuomo threatened.

So please tell me, why are any private schools receiving funding from the state? I live in a state where that doesn’t happen in the first place. No state funds for busing either. It’s only fair. If you opt out of state schools, you opt out of the services that come with it. In that case, the bocherim can get jobs to pay for their childrens’ yeshiva or beit yaakov and stop spending all day at Trump rallies ( I mean kollel.)
