RISHON LETZION (VINnews) — Israeli rabbi Amnon Yitzchak, who specializes in helping Israelis return to their religious roots, appeared in court in a suit which he instigated against Facebook, Google and Youtube, after they allegedly refused to remove defamatory posts about him which he claims are libelous.

Among other posts which Yitzchak, who dresses in authentic Yemenite dress, wished to remove was a post claiming that he had called to burn Rabbi Ovadia Yosef’s books, a claim which Yitzchak stresses “is totally false.”

During the court hearing Tuesday, the judge heard both the claims of Rabbi Yitzchak and those of Facebook and Google. The discussion focused on whether the networks would be forced to remove the offensive posts until the end of the court case or whether they would be entitled to leave them intact. The judge deferred a decision on the matter to the next hearing which should be within the coming month.
