NEW YORK (VINnews/Sandy Eller) – There was some good news for residents of Orange County’s COVID micro-cluster on Wednesday, with Governor Andrew Cuomo citing a significant drop in positivity rates over the last three weeks. That announcement changes the cluster from a red zone to an orange, allowing for slightly larger groups in area synagogues but limiting local schools to remote learning exclusively.

According to Cuomo, the Orange County micro-cluster progressed from a positivity rate of 12 percent to 1.94 percent on a seven day rolling average since October 7th, with hospitalizations remaining flat. With a change from red status to orange, houses of worship in the area will be permitted to operate at 33 percent capacity with a 25 person maximum and outdoor dining will be permitted with a maximum of four people per table. Indoor and outdoor mass gatherings will be limited to 10 people, while non-essential businesses, other than gyms and those providing personal care, will permitted to open.

Allowing schools to open remotely is of little help to Kiryas Joel residents, particularly for the special needs children who attend the district’s public school. In an official statement, Kiryas Joel School Superintendent Joel Petlin emphasized the importance of reopening community schools safely.

“Remote learning is not a suitable substitute for the in-person instruction and therapy services mandated for our students,” said Petlin.

Cuomo said that while other micro-clusters have shown improvements, none of have made sufficient progress to be downgraded to a lesser status. Portions of Brooklyn and Rockland County remain in the red zone with seven day rolling averages of 3.57 percent and 3.21 percent. Several upstate counties have significantly higher positivity rates over the past week but have avoided being tagged by Cuomo as red zones – both Steuben and Broome counties remain yellow zones with positivity rates of 5.08 and 7.44 percent while Chemung County is still classified as an orange zone despite having positivity rates of 8.36 percent.

Fake numbers and games. All manipulation by Antichos.

Schools are not spreaders and kids are getting hurt. Does the governor not chap that kids are in greater danger or does he not care and is just taking revenge. Is it about kids health? Really.
