Baby placed on Joseph's Tomb after circumcision, October 29th 2020

SHECHEM (VINnews) — In an historic event at Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem, a Bris was performed at the site for the first time in two decades. The Tomb, which was ransacked by Palestinians in October 2000 at the beginning of the second Intifada, has been in the hands of the Palestinian Authority ever since, although Israelis are allowed to enter with army patrols about once a month. The site has repeatedly been vandalized by local Palestinians, with Palestinian security forces unable to protect it adequately.

In recent years Breslav chasidim have been active in organizing the monthly visits to the site, which usually take place late at night and number up to 800 people at a time. In this instance the family of the baby, who are active in preserving the tomb, asked the army if they could stay until daylight in order to perform the Bris. The Bris took place on a special chair designated for Sandak which was rescued from the site before it was burned down in the year 2000. The baby was called Binyamin in honor of the Yahrzeit of Rachel Imenu which occurred Thursday.

Wow as if this is a big deal.

Is it any kind of a Mitzvah to make a Bris at the Kever of Yosef HaTzaddik?

Just as a Mitzvah as residing in the dangerous settlements.

Why is it permitted to make a bris at a kever? Who says that it is permitted to drink wine at a kever?

This is a kind of mental illness, not a hidur of Yiddiishkeit.

If I remember correctly, with the Oslo accords, Jews were entitled to enter into our holy places, not just Joseph’s tomb, but in all places. The Pals never kept that part of the ‘bargain’ ’cause keeping it would bar gain on their part of keeping ‘palastien’ free from Jews.

We can remember Rabin, the treacherous traitor for ignoring Jewish rights…..
