How long will the carnage on the streets be allowed to continue? A cyclist was killed by a speeding driver less than a year and a half ago, about two blocks from this location. Not long after that, a ten year old boy was killed by another driver about ten blocks away, at a bus stop. And the list goes on and on.

Strong action is urgently to crack down on distracted drivers, people making illegal u-turns, and other infractions. People driving while texting need to face strong consequences.

Streets should also be redesigned to make them more safe, especially irregular, dangerous ones like where this terrible tragedy happened.

What are the local politicians doing to protect vulnerable people not riding around in giant metal machines??

In many suburban areas, the normal speed limit on residential streets is 15mph. Here in nyc the speed limit on all streets is 25mph so even though you may see cars speeding up or speeding fast to get through a light they are often not going above the speed limit or not going more than a few mph over the limit.
