Sky Over Swedish Town Turns Purple At Night

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Residents of the town of Trelleborg on the south coast of Sweden were astonished to discover the sky around their homes taking on a bizarre purple color at night. The strange color was created by a new energy-efficient system installed on a nearby farm which boasts one of the largest tomato farms in the country.

In Gislov, a small town just 10 minutes east of Trelleborg (inset), the tomato farm operators have started using a new energy-saving LED light system that glows purple

The glow falling on the plants would be good for them and the system itself would extend the growing season.

Residents of both towns complained about the bright light shining in their homes at night.
