BNEI BRAK (VINnews) — Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, the Rosh Yeshiva of Ponovezh, has been asked a number of questions recently regarding vaccinations against COVID-19.
The first question concerned a woman in the fourth month of pregnancy who was advised by Rabbi Elimelech Firer, the director of the Ezrah U’Marpeh organization, to vaccinate. Rabbi Edelstein wrote to her that “with G-d’s help it will be successful.”
The second question concerns an 90-year-old person who is afraid to take the vaccination and wants a ruling from Rabbi Edelstein that he should take it. At the same time a young person said that he was worried that the vaccination might affect his fertility. Rabbi Edelstein wrote that there is no concern about taking the vaccination.
Regarding the third question, about an 80-year-old person who took the first dose of vaccine and is wary of taking the second dose, and a young person who asked Rav Edelstein for advice, he answered that “it’s worth taking the second dose and there’s nothing to be concerned about.”
