Schoen’s strategy to refute the charges apparently wasn’t so great after all. 7 Republicans vote to convict. Largest bipartisan impeachment ever and more bipartisan than expected. Not really Schoen’s fault as it is quite difficult to defend such actions.
45 Republican Senators voted that the proceedings were unconstitutional before Trump’s team began their defense. After the evidence and arguments only 43 votes against impeachment. Pretty clear that the House Managers made the better case.
Doesn’t take much of a legal argument to convince people like Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and Marsha Blackburn to vote in lockstep with the Don.
Hiding behind an interview with Schoen (who did a dismal job) in defense of an armed insurrection that attempted to snuff out American democracy by preventing Senators from certifying the votes of the electoral college.
American democracy and ALL the death and injuries that resulted from Trump’s BIGLY LIE about the election are on Trump’s hands.
The Cops who died or were injured, the lunatic insurrectionist who was shot dead, and every single person who’s lives will be forever altered by being arrested, going to jail and having this as a permanent STAIN on their record is a victim of Trump and his Republican enablers.
Even Moscow Mitch was able to get his head around that; after creating a BS technicality to get Trump off… thus trying to have his cake and eat it too.
