JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Despite the total closure on Israel’s borders, with no Israeli citizens allowed to leave the country, there are certain exceptions to the rule. When immediate medical treatment is required abroad or when an Israeli needs to participate in a funeral or take care of a person who requires his services, he may leave the country. Humanitarian reasons can also allow for Israelis to leave the country.

The law does not prevent people going abroad to perform the procedure, but the committee in charge of exceptions did not permit them to leave the country. The two appealed the decision and Minister Tzahi Hanegbi, who heads the appeals committee, permitted them to leave the country for this reason.
